I know what it is like to be diagnosed with cancer. I
know the emotional roller coaster a man feels he is riding on, the worries
of supporting his family, the anguish of treatment, of being terrified
of having a scan because you do not know what the results will be. I
also know the value of research, because if it wasn't for Professor
Tim Oliver's continuing search for a cure I would not be here today.
Research is not just required for treating men that have the disease,
but more research is needed to prevent the disease. If we can isolate
the causes of these cancers we can stop our children and their descendants
from going through what we have to go through today. We need to encourage
men to be self aware, so that diagnosis is made earlier.
I have fought and won the battle for life, but I have known others
who have fought and lost. I now intend to fight the battle for men.
I need help to do this - I need your help.
