The Male Zumbathon Team!
Dedicated supporter Marion Pennington took on the difficult task of recruiting a team of male zumba dancers to take part in an evening of fundraising for Orchid. Below one of the 'dancers' and their teacher update us on how the evening went.

'After all the procrastinations, protestations and every excuse under the sun, more than twenty five of the finest examples of the male form convened in Cliddesden Village Hall for an hour of Zumba‘ in aid of Orchid, a men‘s cancer charity,.
The understanding was that it was a men only event, however a few "helpers" of the other persuasion found their way in to either photograph, smirk or assist Marion Pennington control the flailing arms, twitching hips and creaking legs. After some early reticence the rhythm took over and the newly laid Village Hall floor was put through its paces (luckily no stilettos). It was curious to note that concepts of 'right‘ and 'left‘ were all too easily forgotten; however enthusiasm and humour were not in short supply.
After much water consumption and signatures on liability waiver forms it was over, and we all left clutching a sense of achievement as well our damp towels. Many thanks must go to Marion for her powers of persuasion and for mesmerising us all into having a good time!'

'I would like to thank all of the guys who turned up, all of those who contributed via Just Giving, my lovely Zumba-ettes (Jo and Julie), plus the local businessman who couldn't make it to the event but matched the money raised on the night. Thanks to you all, we have so far raised £740 for Orchid Male Cancer Research, and counting. I am completely overwhelmed by this! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. You were brilliant, each and every one of you.
If anyone would like to add to the total raised, all contributions will be gratefully received at: www.justgiving.com/Simon-Pennington (although it's me, really, in disguise!), and Orchid wristbands are available for a donation in the Jolly Farmer, while stocks last!'
