The Regis Classic Tour 2013
'The Triple C Tour'
22-24th March 2013
The Regis Classic Tour was started in 1998 as a one-off event to raise some money for charity and have a great time. Annie Roden & Ali Green are both long time members of Bognor Regis Motor Club Ltd and have been involved in organising many Motorsport events over the years. They gathered a group of willing ladies to run the event and what started as a one off event has run every Spring since 1998.
THE 16TH REGIS CLASSIC TOUR - “The Triple C Tour” – Cotswolds Charity Classic - 22 – 24 MARCH 2013
The 4 star Puckrup Hall Hotel just north of Tewksbury is the chosen venue. www.hilton.com/puckrup-hall. There is now an oversubscribed entry for the 16th Tour – keeping up a tradition over many years now.
The ladies are also thrilled to say, that the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb is secured for a chance for the Regis Classic Tourists to drive the famous 1000 yard course (non-competitively). As this is the oldest motorsport venue in the world still running over its original course it was always on their wish list to visit for 2013. The heritage of this very famous venue is another one they wanted to tick off the list and since the massive building refurbishment that has taken place over this last winter it will be a real privilege to visit. www.shelsley-walsh.co.uk. Thanks to Redditch Car Club for their assistance in marshalling the hill.
Leaving Shelsley Walsh and heading south there is an optional visit to Holden Vintage and Classic www.holden.co.uk for a chance to view their latest range of products and enter the free prize draw for tour participants. Then it is on to the lunch halt at Three Choirs Vineyard at Newent www.three-choirs-vineyards.co.uk and will include a wine tasting for the non drivers.
Saturday Afternoon tea and cake will be at the beautiful Jacobean House - Stanway www.stanwayfountain.co.uk where there will be an opportunity to look around the house and see the highest gravity fed fountain in the UK rising in a single jet to 300 feet!
There is then an optional visit to Beckford Silk Mill www.beckfordsilk.co.uk on the way back to the hotel.
Sunday morning will start with a drive along the River Severn to Frampton Court Estate
www.framptoncourtestate.co.uk with refreshments in the Wool Barn followed by a tour of Frampton Court and a drive through the park. Then it is on to Dursley to WSP Textiles at Cam Mill where there will be a chance to see the mill in action producing some of the famous Billiard Green Baize or Yellow Tennis ball cloth famous the world over. www.wsptextiles.com. The finish venue for Sunday’s farewell lunch will be at Westonbirt House www.westonbirt.gloucs.sch.uk
The entry has been oversubscribed for months. This is testament to the high regard the event has attracted from previous participants. The tour has now raised in excess of £365,000.00 for Cancer charities over the past 15 years. 2012 has proved to be another record breaker £46,416.76 with Gift Aid achieved from this tour alone. For 2013 the two chosen charities are again Against Breast Cancer www.againstbreastcancer.org.uk and Orchid – Fighting Male Cancer www.orchid-cancer.org.uk
