The Pigeon Watch; North Vs South Shoot 2011
On the 7th of May members of the popular Pigeon Watch website from around the UK descended on Sporting Targets in Bedfordshire to determine whether the best shooters are from the North or the South, whilst raising money for Orchid Cancer.

The competition last year took place at the West Midlands Shooting School, where the North ran out convincing winners with a victory margin of 104 clays. This year both sides were determined to win, and with a flurry of new registrations right up until the deadline it was unclear whether the trophy would go to the North or the South.
The forecast for the day was thundery showers, but fortunately these cleared as the 12 squads made their way out onto the ground. Some 7,400 clays later and the shooters retired to the clubhouse for a Charity Raffle which was generously supported raising further funds.
The most important announcements were held to the end. The top three individual scores were separated by one clay, and longstanding Pigeon Watch member Rob Gray’s impressive score of 95 was enough to win him the High Gun. It was then revealed that the day had raised a total of £3,825 for Orchid Cancer, to help with their pioneering research and raising awareness. As for the winners of the North vs South contest... it was a narrow margin of just 18 clays by which the South were declared champions - claiming the trophy for the first time - to level the standings at 1 victory each.

Founder of The Pigeon Watch William Mulhullond presents a cheque for £3,825 to Hannah in the Orchid Events Team.
