Regular visits. Sourcing simple information. Providing support to the carer – there is great focus on the person who is ill but the carer is a) regularly forgotten and b) takes a great deal of the impact both physically and emotionally.

I suppose to be there and not try and sweep it under the carpet. Also remember even though you need to hold the family together you are not the person going through it so don’t take over. Also find someone who will support you and be there for you, for me that was my mum.
