It is a great privilege to be part of The Orchid Cancer Appeal. Since its formation in 1996, the charity has gone from strength to strength but we are by no means resting on our laurels. Having funded a programme of scientific and medical research and promoted education through an active campaign across the UK, we aim to capitalise on these achievements and develop our contribution to this vital field still further.

We are now looking to expand Orchid’s research base, increase the range of our awareness material, and establish a programme of specialist nurses to integrate research more effectively into the mainstream treatment of male-specific cancer patients.  In these ways, we can enhance our impact on the still insufficiently recognised diseases of testicular, prostate and penile cancers.  Although only a small team, Orchid has the expertise, the energy and the enthusiasm to realise these objectives, and I must also pay tribute to the Board of Trustees and my colleagues in the Orchid office for offering their diverse  talents, experience and commitment as we move forward.

In short, the prospects for Orchid’s future are exciting yet rightly demanding. Above all, to meet these challenges successfully, we rely on the admirable assistance of our supporters, both old and new. Our dynamic founders, Colin Osborne and Professor Tim Oliver, are still tireless in their efforts to save lives: help us to sustain their great work. It could just be your life next....or your son's, your husband's, your father’s, your friend’s…..
