Rebecca Porta, Director of Orchid: “Orchid is delighted next has chosen to support our work with the Orchid design boxer shorts which go on sale in April in the run up to Orchid’s Male Cancer Awareness week 20-26th April 2009. The male cancers; prostate, penile and testicular, which affect men of all ages, are sadly increasing in incident. It may be through lack of recognition of the early signs and symptoms or a delay in visiting the GP, but in many cases the disease will have spread before diagnosis making it far harder to treat – men need to sit up and take notice of their health. The specially designed boxer shorts will help to raise awareness and all funds raised will help Orchid’s pioneering research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of these potentially life threatening cancers”.

On Tuesday 2 February talkSPORT, the UK's number one sport commercial radio station hosted a Hall Of Fame Event at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel. Hosted by talkSPORT presenter Jeremy Kyle, the ceremony witnessed ten great sportsmen and two legendary football teams become the first entrants into the talkSPORT Hall of Fame.
Established in February 2009, the talkSPORT Hall of Fame honours and acknowledges sporting greatness by both individuals and teams. From a shortlist decided by experts in the relevant sporting arenas, voting was then thrown open entirely to the public with the top two individuals or teams in each category being inducted.

Amongst the guests at the ceremony were world champion boxers Joe Calzaghe and Duke McKenzie, former England internationals Ray Parlour and Lee Sharpe, World Cup winner Ossie Ardiles, F1 driver Johnny Herbert, rugby league legends Martin Offiah and Ellery Hanley and Wales rugby union legend Gareth Edwards, who was inaugurated as of one the greatest rugby players of all time. A number of these sports personalities signed a range of sporting memorabilia ready to be auctioned off live on talkSPORT radio, with the money raised coming directly to Orchid.
A huge thank you must go to everyone at talkSPORT for supporting Orchid, with a special mention to radio presenter Robyn Schonhofer for her continuous support.
The suit worn by Harry Redknapp which was soaked following Spur's win over Manchester City raised £7,500 for charity when auctioned by talkSPORT. The bid came from Spurs season ticket holder and sports memrobilia collector Mark Banner.
