Orchid exists to save men's lives from testicular, prostate and penile cancers
through pioneering research and promoting awareness
Orchid works with a wide range of other representative groups to raise awareness of specific issues and topics, to provide specialist information and to campaign for better services.
Orchid is an active member of the Prostate Cancer Charter for Action, an influential collaborative of not-for-profit and professional organisations, whose lobbying has resulted in important advances in prostate cancer care by the Department of Health.
Orchid is a member of Cancer 52, an equivalent collaborative concerned with less common cancers (ie all those except prostate, lung, breast and bowel disease) that together account for around 52% of all cancer deaths in the UK.
Other areas of involvement include the Cancer Campaigning Group and the Men's Health Forum.
"Increasingly, Orchid is invited to input into service development – in 2009 I was invited to give evidence to a review being undertaken by the Newham Health Scrutiny Committee into prostate and testicular cancer services".
